چکیده

Background: The second most common illness after malaria that is transmitted by vectors and may be lethal if untreated leishmaniasis. Leishmaniasis caused parasites of the genus Leishmania, which are classified into two subgenera, Viannia Leishmania. Methodology: A total 100 sample collected from presumed clinically as CL patients dermatologist, with 50 positive cases negative on Geimsa stain microscopy for Leishman Donovan (LD) bodies. After permission Ethical board in Khyber medical university KPK inform consent patient or their guardian case children was taken. lesion its surroundings were cleaned 70% ethanol, fluid oozing out first prick obtained disperse over a glass slide, left to dry fixed methanol, stained Giemsa stain. Two pricks administered sterile BD syringe at active margin lesion. prick's kept an EDTA tube PCR usage -20°C IBMS laboratory KMU Peshawar. Results: Out patients, 53 female 47 male. age ranged year 89 year. 64 36 CL. microscopic 37cases PCR. 27 (54%) statistically significant difference found between method detection Conclusion: finding our study specifies base analysis superior diagnosis Therefore, we recommend use along staining order improve quality sensitivity routine disease. Detection of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis by PCR in Fasa district in 2012

Background & Objective: Leishmaniasis is a common disease between humans and animals caused by protozoa of the genus Leishmania spp. It is transmitted by the female species of Phlebotomus. The most common form of leishmaniasis is the cutaneous form seen as either dry (urban) or wet (Rural). Detection of cutaneous leishmaniasis species is not reliable by microscopy. Among the methods, PCR is usef...

Comparison of PCR assays for diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis.

Three PCR assays for diagnosing leishmaniasis were compared and validated against parasite cultures and microscopic evaluation of stained tissue smears using 92 specimens from suspected cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in Israel and the West Bank. Samples from imported and locally acquired disease were examined. The kinetoplast DNA (kDNA) PCR showed the highest sensitivity (98.7%) of any a...

Detection of Drug Resistance Gene in Cutaneous Leishmaniasis by PCR in Some Endemic Areas of Iran

BACKGROUND Cutaneous leishmaniasis is still a health problem in many rural and urban regions of Iran and drug resistance has emerged as a major impediment in the treatment of leishmaniasis. This study aims to determine the drug resistance gene in cutaneous leishmaniasis by PCR in some endemic areas of Iran. METHODS Ninety seven samples were collected from ulcers of leishmaniasis patients from...

Cutaneous leishmaniasis in French Guiana: revising epidemiology with PCR-RFLP

BACKGROUND The development of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique for species identification among patients presenting leishmaniasis allowed to better determine the main circulating species in French Guiana. METHODS A descriptive study of the Leishmania species was identified, and their spatiotemporal distribution was conducted using patient...

Comparison of different primes for PCR-based diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to analyze different primers that are commonly used in epidemiological studies for the detection of Leishmania DNA by PCR, and to compare them to the conventional direct parasite search for American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) diagnosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS Five pairs of primers, four of them derived from Leishmania kDNA sequences (MP3H-MP1L; B1-B2...
